The Department of Pharmacy Practice & Science at the University of Kentucky invites applications for two tenure track positions at the Associate or Professor level in its expanding graduate program (http://pharmacy.mc.uky.edu/programs/graduate/pharmpol.php) located within the newly formed Institute for Pharmaceutical Outcomes & Policy (iPOP). iPOP will be housed in the new $134 million 286,000 ft2 College of Pharmacy building (http://pharmacy.mc.uky.edu/display.php?id=658 ) expected to open in December 2009. The new academic medical campus of the future will include a new shared Health Sciences Learning Center where students from different health disciplines will interact and learn together.
Our program goal is to provide students the opportunity to become leaders in pharmaceutical research affecting medication outcomes and pharmaceutical policy while collaborating with multidisciplinary research teams and creating diverse research opportunities.
Job Description
The developing M.S. and Ph.D. graduate studies requires talented and innovative faculty. We seek applicants who demonstrate a strong interest in and commitment to cutting-edge research and teaching in health policy, health economics, pharmacoepidemiology, decision analysis, or bioinformatics. Applicants from multiple specialties will be considered. Successful applicants will be expected to have an established externally funded research program, teach and mentor graduate and professional students, and participate in service to the Institute, Department, and College.
Credential requirements:
Applicants must have an advanced professional or graduate terminal degree in their area of expertise. Hiring rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications of the applicant. Review of applications will begin in November 2009 and continue until positions are filled.

Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experience Coordinator

The Department of Pharmacy Practice & Science in the College of Pharmacy at the University of Kentucky invites applications for an Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experience Coordinator. The successful candidate will be responsible for the development, coordination and assessment of the College’s introductory pharmacy practice experiences (IPPEs).
The IPPE coordinator will report to the Director of Professional Practice Programs and will coordinate all activities in the IPPE I and IPPE II courses offered as part of the College’s Doctor of Pharmacy degree program. In this capacity the IPPE Coordinator will work with the Director to satisfy recently upgraded accreditation requirements for clinical education in the areas of preceptor training, teaching site development and quality assurance. Additional responsibilities may include didactic teaching, service to the Department and University, and scholarly activity.
Applicants should have a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited college of pharmacy; further consideration will be given to applicants with residency training, relevant academic and professional experience as a pharmacy practitioner, or with additional related professional education and training. The successful candidate will be appointed within the Department, with the type and rank of appointment determined by the qualifications of the individual.

The Faculty and Staff
The department has 56 faculty: 24 in tenure-track positions, 11 in the clinical title series track, 4 Lecturers, 12 with adjunct appointments and five in part-time positions. The faculty have wide ranging scholarly interests and jointly coordinate two PhD programs – Clinical & Experimental Therapeutics and Pharmaceutical Policy. The faculty enjoys outstanding support and innovative interaction from 25 staff members in a wide variety of roles.
The Physical Facilities
The faculty and staff are currently housed in 11 buildings both on campus and off. In part, this reflects the diverse collaborations in which the faculty and staff engage with personnel and units across the university and community. A new 280,000 sq. ft. building for the College of Pharmacy is scheduled to be available for occupancy in 2010.
The Chandler Medical Center
The College of Pharmacy is part of the Chandler Medical Center, which consists of the Colleges of Dentistry, Health Sciences, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, and Public Health. The College of Pharmacy Building is directly across the street from the University of Kentucky Hospital, a 473-bed facility, and the University’s ambulatory care center, the Kentucky Clinic, is adjacent to the college. The department enjoys productive affiliations with numerous other health care facilities and programs throughout the Commonwealth for education and training, research, patient care and public service.
