Jun 19, 2014
ASHP and the University of Kentucky (UK) College of Pharmacy are pleased to announce the availability of Preceptor’s Playbook: Tactics, Techniques & Strategies, an online training resource for pharmacy preceptors. This new continuing education (CE) solution of on-demand offerings features 31 modules focusing on both the traditional and the softer interpersonal skills necessary for pharmacists to manage the experiential learning setting.
Pharmacy preceptors serve a critical role in coaching and developing pharmacy students. The Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) mandates that the approximately 120 accredited colleges and schools of pharmacy in the U.S. support professional developmental for their pharmacy preceptors. These accredited pharmacy residency programs require resident pharmacists to be trained by pharmacist preceptors.
“Experiential training is a key element of pharmacy education,” said Julie Webb, R.Ph., ASHP Vice President of Professional Development.” It is essential that pharmacist preceptors have access to educational resources to bolster their skills as they guide the development of our newest practitioners.”
“We are excited to partner with our friends and colleagues at ASHP to bring this very important educational tool to the pharmacy marketplace,” said Timothy S. Tracy, dean of the UK College of Pharmacy. “I applaud our talented faculty for helping to develop these modules, and I look forward to Preceptor’s Playbook adding great value to preceptors across the nation.”
Each module takes only 15 minutes to complete. A complete description of topics and subscription details is available at www.ashp.org/playbook.
