Bird, Deaciuc Named 2008 UKCOP Employees of the Year
Jun 05, 2009The University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy has announced the 2008 Employees of the Year. Eleanora Bird, M.S., director of assessment in the Office of Education, has been selected as the administrative staff member of the year, and Agripina "Gabi" Deaciuc, research analyst principal in the laboratory of Dr. Linda Dwoksin, was selected as the technical staff member of the year.
The awards were presented by Dean Emeritus Kenneth B. Roberts on June 3 at the College's annual staff retreat.
Bird has worked at the College of Pharmacy for 11 years. According to her nominator, "She is a consummate professional. She carries herself with respect, honesty, and collegiality for her co-workers, faculty members, and students. Ms. Bird appreciates the opportunity to work at the college and always reflects positively on the organization."
In addition, her expertise was recently recognized by the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy with her appointment as Chair of the national committee on assessment practices. This is significant in that typically only faculty members are appointed as Chairs of AACP committees.
Deaciuc has worked for 10 years in Dr. Dwoskin's lab. According to her nominators, "Gabi is a highly talented technician with a skill set that far exceeds expectations. She is bright, an extremely hard worker and always motivated to expand her training into new areas. In short, Gabi is the caliber of person you hope to work with on a daily basis in a research setting."
