Absorption - Inhalation - Platinum (Pt)

Oral         Dermal

Following single inhalation exposure of rats to metallic Pt, Pt(IV) oxide, Pt(IV) chloride, and Pt(IV) sulfate, most of the Pt was quickly removed from the organism. The rate of Pt absorption from the lungs depended on the water-solubility of the compounds. Water-soluble Pt(IV) sulfate was removed from the lungs more rapidly than metallic Pt or Pt(IV) oxide (Moore et al., 1975c).
