UKCOP Grad is President-Elect of AAPS

Mayer, Ph.D., a 1981 graduate of the pharmaceutical sciences graduate program at the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy, has been named president-elect of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS). Only a decade ago, the life expectancy of someone with cystic fibrosis was around 18 years. Today, it is 35 and continues to slowly rise. Black Recieves Research Funding in Memory of Kentucky Cancer Patient

When Kim Seibert of Prospect, Ky., was diagnosed with lung cancer she became determined to help other non-smokers beat this deadly disease. The wife and mother of two young boys never smoked, yet she was diagnosed with a lethal drug-resistant form of lung cancer. She lost her battle in September 2007, but in her memory, cancer researcher Dr. Esther Black, pharmaceutical scientist at the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy, will be able to further her research in treating drug-resistant tumors that mostly affect non-smokers.
