Why did you choose to attend UK for pharmacy school?
I visited the UK College of Pharmacy (UKCOP) for an Open House during my first semester in college. I knew from that day that I wanted to go to UK for pharmacy school. I was overly impressed with the many opportunities that being a UK COP student had to offer.

What benefits/opportunities do you feel you’ve gotten from attending UK that you maybe wouldn’t have had if you’d gone elsewhere?
Within the UKCOP, the opportunities for getting involved are endless! One example, my personal favorite, is volunteering for Faith Pharmacy, a charitable pharmacy that operates in downtown Lexington to serve the underprivileged population.

What is the best thing about being a UKCOP student?
The best thing about being a UK student is getting $5.00 tickets to watch the UK Wildcats basketball games. GO CATS!!!

Did you work or volunteer in a pharmacy before enrolling at UKCOP or do you work now? If so, what type of setting?
I worked at an independent pharmacy for one summer before I started pharmacy school. I didn’t work during my first year, and I felt that I was missing out on something. So, I got a job at a chain drug store the summer after my first year. I have enjoyed every minute of work, and I think it has been very complementary to my school work. I typically work one night every week and one weekend every month, so it doesn’t take up very much of my time.

Nathan’s Words of Wisdom
I believe it is important to keep your options open. Don’t limit yourself by saying “I want to work in retail,” or “I want to work in a hospital." There are so many opportunities available in the pharmacy world and the best way to figure out what you want to do is to get involved as much as you can while you are in pharmacy school.
